A private journal that doubles as a second brain
Saved it. Never read it. Thrennel turns what you save into notes you can review, and connects them to what you think.
Thanks. We'll email you a sign-up link when a spot opens.
Two kinds of notes, kept apart
- Your journal holds what you think.
- Your knowledge holds what you saved: articles, videos, pasted notes.
- Kept apart on purpose, so your own thinking never gets buried under other people’s.
Filter to either, or see both. In your web, thoughts are dots and saved items are diamonds. Request an invite
Ask your journal
Ask a question of everything you have written and get an answer that points back to the entries it came from. Topics file themselves.
Summaries that end in action
Day, week and month summaries pull out the action items as checkboxes, so looking back turns into a next step.
Private by design
- Your journal is encrypted on the server with a key only your password or recovery code can unlock. Stored files and backups can’t be read without one of them, not even by the founder.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- AI features run first on the founder’s own computers with open-source models. Only when those are offline does the text go to the Claude API.
- Export everything any time as an Obsidian vault, Markdown or JSON.
Calm, writing-first, on any device
Thrennel is a web app you can install on your phone. It imports Markdown, text and Day One exports, and exports everything as an Obsidian vault, a single Markdown file or JSON, with the links between notes kept (try a sample vault). It is built by one person and is in beta; people join by invitation.
